Lineage eternal

7 posts in this topic

Korea-based NCsoft exposed on its latest financial report that the development investment of Lineage Eternal, another next-gen MMO blockbuster closely followed Blade & Soul, has reached KRW 50 billion, which is almost as much as the cost of Blade & Soul. But it is worth noting that Blade & Soul is approaching its OBT while Lineage Eternal is just in the stage of development.

Responding to reporters' questions, NCsoft said the release date of Lineage Eternal had not been confirmed yet but would be determined based on the strategic goal of publishing an MMO every two years. According to this, if Blade & Soul is released in the coming summer holiday as scheduled, Lineage Eternal is expected to be launched in 2014, which is in conformity with the date speculated by Korean media when NCsoft first exposed Lineage Eternal at Gstar last year.

Lineage Eternal has attracted explosive attention with its Drag and Hold manipulation gameplay as early as its debut in Gstar 2011. Drag and Hold had never been employed in previous MMOs, with which players can drag the track area and cast the skills in the track area. Besides, Lineage Eternal will bring players very large battle scenes-- a large-scale real-time battle that is impossibly compared with by current MMORPGs and with heroes in it. It is a dual system that has never been coexisted before and the most proper graphics will be provided according to the player's angle of view.

Don't expect to see another Lineage besides Lineage Eternal soon. Remember that between Lineage 1(1997-98) and Lineage 2(2003) took 6 years, and between L2 to LE took over 10 years.

They plan to release Lineage Eternal in 2014 or 2015 and they already have plans for updates of LE for 10 years at least. It means that if LE is launched in 2014-2015, there won't be any other Lineage game until 2019-2020(minimum) or even 2024-2025(maximum).

Indeed, LE will be a fun MMO, and depending on the development choices made by its team, Lineage Eternal can be as successful as Lineage 1 that still is the most profitable MMO from NCSoft.
